The M Spa Advantage

Coolsculpting Certified Icon

CoolSculpting®, the sophisticated and incision-free method of noticeable fat removal, may be the perfect body contouring solution to help you bring your ideal physique to the surface without relying on the uncertainty of dieting and exercise. Using FDA-approved Cryolipolysis™ technology, CoolSculpting® encourages natural metabolization of fat cells in exercise-resistant areas of the body, leaving behind a slimmer, firmer, and more sculpted look after treatment. We get it—you’re looking for first-rate results. Our core-trained medical director and certified CoolSculpting® providers are here to deliver.

What Is CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is an innovative controlled-cooling, or “fat-freezing,” treatment performed to help healthy individuals who are at or near their ideal weight smooth bulges of excess fat. Inspired by the medical benefits of cryotherapy, CoolSculpting® works by delivering near-freezing temperatures to fat cells via a flat handpiece. This crystallizes and permanently destroys the targeted fat cells, allowing them to be metabolized by the body through natural body processes over the following weeks. Since the machine is not designed to even remotely reach the level of coldness that would cause damage to the skin, CoolSculpting® can get rid of fat cells without harming surrounding tissue. The effectiveness of CoolSculpting® as a method of non-surgical fat reduction is widely supported by years of scientific research and clinical results.

When considering CoolSculpting®, it is extremely important to choose a board certified plastic surgeon-led practice that has considerable experience in both surgical and non-surgical aesthetic treatments.

Why Choose M Spa for CoolSculpting®?

There is a world of difference between a provider that simply offers CoolSculpting® and a CoolSculpting®-certified practice led by a core specialist. M Spa stands out from other medical spas in many respects, but we’ll boil it down to three key differences: training, safety, and the technology to maximize your results.

Our fully equipped medical facility is led by Dr. Tiffany McCormack, an award-winning board-certified plastic surgeon and the first practitioner in Nevada to offer non-surgical fat reduction with CoolSculpting®. Since the technology’s inception, Dr. McCormack maintains an unrivaled level of training with CoolSculpting® that is directly passed on to our team of certified CoolSculpting® providers. This gives our patients the comfort and confidence of knowing that should a complication occur—an exceedingly rare possibility—there is a core-trained medical director on-site who has been accredited by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. We know that CoolSculpting® is not always the best treatment choice for all patients, so our medical team will never recommend this technique if they do not truly believe CoolSculpting® can effectively achieve your goals. This high ethical standard and authenticity with which we approach your treatment are qualities we pride ourselves on.

Lastly, M Spa utilizes the latest CoolSculpting® applicators—including the CoolAdvantage™ line—to optimize treatment of a specific area, as well as to speed up the length of your session and enhance comfort during the process. These custom cooling panels are designed to target larger and/or hard-to-reach areas, such as the long vertical regions of the inner thighs and upper arms, as well as the curved sides of the waist and abdomen. We also use the TransFORM Body Treatment from the ALASTIN Skincare® line after your CoolSculpting® session, which works with your body’s natural production of collagen to tighten skin and accelerate the rate at which you see your results.

What Areas of the Body Can CoolSculpting® Treat?

CoolSculpting® has the versatility to reduce both the submental area (under the chin) and pockets of excess fat accumulation around the body. Thanks to the multitude of applicators available at M Spa, we are able to optimize treatment in each location and address larger areas faster than the standard CoolSculpting® handpiece. The regions most commonly treated with CoolSculpting® include the abdomen, waist (“love handles”), flanks, mid- and lower back, upper arms, buttocks, and the inner and outer thighs. The best results are achieved in places where fat is localized, which are often the areas that prove most difficult to slim and tone naturally.

CoolSculpting® vs. Liposuction

CoolSculpting® is considered a non-surgical alternative to liposuction for good reason, but there are some distinctions between controlled-cooling and surgical fat removal. CoolSculpting® can reduce fat by up to 20 to 30 percent per treatment while liposuction is capable of removing a larger volume of fat (approximately 80 percent). However, unlike liposuction, there is no downtime after CoolSculpting®—you should be able to return to work, home, and your normal routine right away. Furthermore, there are no needles, incisions, or anesthesia necessary. Still, CoolSculpting® may not be the best choice for patients who want to treat multiple areas at once, or for patients who would like visible results right away. Our team will always recommend liposuction or another treatment option based on your needs if CoolSculpting® is not the best fat reduction procedure for you.

CoolSculpting® vs. Tummy Tuck

In some cases, a patient’s concerns with their abominominal contour may be the result of loose, hanging skin rather than excess fat. In these instances, we recommend a skin tightening procedure like tummy tuck surgery or a non-surgical alternative, such as BodyTite®, to firm and smooth the abdomen. A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is designed to address excess skin while repairing stretched abdominal musculature, resulting in a slimmer and more defined abdominal profile. There is usually some fat removal during surgery, but a tummy tuck predominantly addresses the skin and musculature. CoolSculpting® is not intended to treat sagging skin or separated abdominal muscles, so our team can listen to your goals and determine which body contouring technique is right for you.

Not all CoolSculpting® providers are created equal. Entrust your body, safety, and care to a Core Specialist who will do what’s best for you.

What Is the CoolSculpting® Procedure Like?

When you arrive at M Spa, you will first have a consultation with one of our fully trained CoolSculpting® providers. We will carefully review your medical history and evaluate your concerns to confirm that CoolSculpting® is the best solution to help you achieve your goals. If you are a good candidate for CoolSculpting®, a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs and concerns will be created.

During your CoolSculpting® session, a gel pad will be placed in the area of treatment so that the cooling panels of the handheld applicator never make contact with your skin. As the handpiece begins to emit cold temperatures, you should feel a suction sensation along with mild twisting, pulling, tingling, and intense cold. Eventually, the area will go numb and the rest of the session can be spent reading, surfing the web, watching movies, or simply relaxing. An average treatment takes approximately one hour depending on the type of applicator used and how many regions are being addressed at once. After the CoolSculpting® handpiece is detached, your provider will massage the area to break up the targeted fat cells and improve your results. There is no downtime required after your treatment and you can return to your normal routine immediately.

Many of us have stubborn fat despite diet and exercise.
CoolSculpting technology uses controlled cooling to target and kill only these fat cells.
In the weeks to follow, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates dead cells.
CoolSculpting results are long term,* because treated fat cells are gone.

Does CoolSculpting® Have Side Effects?

Every medical or cosmetic procedure includes a risk of adverse reactions, and the side effects specifically associated with CoolSculpting® include skin sensitivity, stinging, aching, and cramping, among other possible complications. Mild swelling and/or bruising right after your treatment is not uncommon and should resolve naturally. Though serious or permanent side effects from CoolSculpting® are rare, you should always undergo treatment in a fully equipped facility with a core-trained medical professional on-site in the unlikely event that a complication should arise. Fortunately, our ability to offer care from certified CoolSculpting® providers in a board-certified plastic surgeon-led practice greatly minimizes the chances of serious side effects. You can be confident that our team fully assesses your health and medical status for any history of cold-related diseases or other concerning conditions to help ensure CoolSculpting® is safe and effective for your needs.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect from CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® typically takes two to four months to produce visible results, although many patients begin to notice an improvement after just one month. While the final outcome traditionally takes up to six months to reveal itself, M Spa uses the award-winning TransFORM Body Treatment from ALASTIN Skincare® after CoolSculpting® to accelerate your fat reduction and provide you with noticeable results sooner. Some patients may require multiple treatments to achieve their goals and others attain their desired results after just one CoolSculpting® session—the best approach for your concerns will be detailed in your treatment plan.

Results from CoolSculpting® can last for a lifetime if you commit to a healthy lifestyle consisting of regular exercise and a nutritious diet. Once fat cells in a given area are destroyed, they cannot “regrow,” although fat cells in other regions of the body can still enlarge with future weight gain.

Accelerating Fat Reduction with ALASTIN Skincare®

As the recent winner of the 2019 NewBeauty® Award in the “Innovations” category, the TransFORM Body Treatment by ALASTIN Skincare® plays a pivotal role in achieving the highest quality of fat reduction results at M Spa. This topical treatment is applied after your CoolSculpting® session to enhance collagen-building processes in the skin structure and accelerate the outcome. Formulated with TriHex Technology®, which refers to a patented blend of peptides that work to clear damaged proteins in the skin’s extracellular matrix, the TransFORM Body Treatment can help facilitate the body’s natural healing process, speed up the rate at which fat cells metabolize, and restructure loose, crepey skin. This often results in an optimized outcome that is visible faster than CoolSculpting® treatments that do not utilize ALASTIN Skincare®.

How Much Does CoolSculpting® Cost?

The cost of CoolSculpting® is personalized according to the unique aspects of your treatment plan, such as:

  • The location of the treated area(s)
  • The size and number of areas treated
  • The types CoolSculpting® applicators utilized
  • The number of treatments necessary to achieve your goals

On average, the price of a CoolSculpting® treatment package can range from $1,500 to $6,000. For patients interested in treatment with CoolSculpting® Elite, the cost is generally $450 to $650 per cycle. However, we cannot provide an accurate cost estimate until your needs are assessed in a consultation. M Spa accepts all major payment options, as well as healthcare financing from trusted lending institutions like CareCredit®, Prosper® Healthcare Lending, and ALPHAEON™ Credit. These third-party financing companies offer a variety of low- to no-interest payment plans for virtually any budget, allowing CoolSculpting® to remain affordable for qualified patients. Our team at M Spa would be happy to discuss the cost of CoolSculpting® in further detail if you have any other questions or concerns.

Now Introducing: CoolTone™ Muscle Toning

Complete your body sculpting results with CoolTone™, an exciting non-surgical muscle toning treatment that can help you further define your contours! Developed by the makers of CoolSculpting®, CoolTone™ offers powerful magnetic muscle stimulation (MMS) technology that is FDA-cleared to firm, sculpt, and strengthen muscles in the abdomen, buttocks, or thighs. CoolTone™ works by emitting electromagnetic energy through a handheld applicator. This energy penetrates below the subcutaneous fat layer to trigger involuntary muscle contractions, which can condition and tone your muscles in the targeted regions.

CoolTone™ can allow active individuals who are at or near their ideal weight achieve a more athletic, defined look. The best results are often seen when patients undergo multiple CoolTone™ treatments, although most people report feeling increased core strength after just one session. CoolTone™ was designed to work in tandem with CoolSculpting® fat reduction, and can be a perfect complement to highlight your CoolSculpting® results.

CoolSculpting® Elite

Now available at M Spa, CoolSculpting® Elite is the second generation of the highly transformative non-surgical fat reduction treatment. This new and improved technology offers a variety of benefits that can be seen in the form of superior results, enhanced treatment protocols, and increased efficiency. This is all possible without sacrificing the conveniences that made patients fall in love with CoolSculpting® in the first place, such as zero surgery, anesthesia, scarring, downtime, or incisions.

CoolSculpting® Elite can provide an elevated body contouring experience in many ways, including:

  • Utilizes dual applicators to address two treatment areas in the same amount of time, potentially doubling the fat reduction achieved in one visit
  • New C-shaped applicators come in different shapes/sizes to better conform to the body’s natural curves, enhancing the outcome of treatment
  • Surface area of the applicators is 18% larger when compared to older models

CoolSculpting® Elite is FDA-cleared to treat the same nine regions that can be addressed with the original CoolSculpting® procedure. If you’re considering a non-surgical body sculpting treatment, Dr. Tiffany McCormack and our certified CoolSculpting® providers would be happy to discuss how CoolSculpting® Elite can help you achieve your goals faster than you may have thought possible.

Additional Commonly Asked CoolSculpting® Questions

How old do you have to be to get CoolSculpting®?

In general, CoolSculpting® can be performed on adults 18 and older. Factors that may also determine candidacy include how much stubborn fat is present in the desired treatment area and your expectations regarding the outcome. Treatment is most effective for individuals who do not mind the results unfolding gradually, and who are willing to maintain a healthy lifestyle to preserve their contours.

Is CoolSculpting® safe?

Yes! The safety of CoolSculpting® has been explored in countless clinical studies and years of scientific research, which both resulted in the treatment’s FDA-approval in 2010. The most important factors in determining the safety of CoolSculpting® is the skill and experience of your provider. Ideally, you should receive treatment from a practice led by a doctor or board-certified plastic surgeon who has a team of certified CoolSculpting® technicians. Given this high quality of care, your CoolSculpting® provider should be able to properly assess your candidacy and provide timely intervention in the rare event of complication.

Can I do CoolSculpting® at home?

Although controlled-cooling has been proven to destroy fat cells, Cryolipolysis™ — the technology behind the effectiveness of CoolSculpting® — is only safe and successful when employed by a trained provider who is able to properly regulate the device’s temperature settings. CoolSculpting® is equipped with safeguards that target the subcutaneous fat layer while preventing damage to the surrounding skin tissue and the development of cold-related diseases, such as frostbite. For these reasons, our practice strongly discourages DIY (“do it yourself”) methods of controlled-cooling, as they can be ineffective at best and harmful — both to your appearance and your health — at worst.

Does CoolSculpting® hurt?

As the cooling panels reach the desired temperature, patients typically feel intense coldness before the treatment area goes numb. This can be uncomfortable, but should improve quickly as your body becomes acclimated to the sensation. You may also feel mild tugging, pulling, or pinching as the device draws in the fatty tissue, but most patients do not describe their experience as painful. Your CoolSculpting® provider will let you know exactly what you can expect during your appointment.

How many inches can you lose with CoolSculpting®?

With the ability to reduce up to 25 to 30 percent of fat, it’s possible to shrink a patient’s waistline by several inches depending on their figure and the unique details of their treatment plan — particularly when CoolSculpting® is combined with CoolTone™. Results vary based on each person’s aesthetic goals, so your CoolSculpting® provider will be able to provide you with more insight into whether your desired outcome is feasible during your appointment.

How much weight can be lost with CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is more intended to sculpt bulges of exercise-resistant fat rather than produce weight loss, therefore the actual amount of weight shed is typically marginal. In general, this body contouring treatment is most successful for patients who are already at or near their ideal weight. The aesthetic procedure should not be viewed as a substitute for a weight loss program, and we encourage individuals interested in losing weight to consult with a bariatric surgeon.

How many CoolSculpting® treatments are needed?

The number of CoolSculpting® treatments necessary to achieve the desired result varies from patient to patient. In general, most people need at least two treatment sessions to see their desired contours, but the amount of fat to be reduced, as well as your individual goals, will influence how many sessions are included in your CoolSculpting® plan. After determining the extent of your concerns, your CoolSculpting® provider will be able to give you a better idea of how many treatments are required to bring your goals to fruition.

Can CoolSculpting® treat gynecomastia?

Unfortunately, CoolSculpting® is not considered an effective treatment to correct gynecomastia — a condition in which men develop enlarged breasts. In cases of gynecomastia, the appearance of overdeveloped or visible breasts is often caused by a combination of fat and glandular tissue. While CoolSculpting® may be able to reduce excess fat, this method of controlled cooling does not address glandular breast tissue. Plus, due to the curved design of CoolSculpting® applicators, treatment is typically most successful when targeting bulges of localized fat.

To restore flat, natural-looking, and masculine contours in the chest, a surgical treatment like male breast reduction is often recommended. Dr. McCormack would be happy to speak with you about gynecomastia treatment options at McCormack Plastic Surgery, if desired.

Does CoolSculpting® work on cellulite?

Despite popular belief, cellulite is not caused by excess fat; rather, the appearance of dimpled skin forms due to pressure from the underlying fibrous bands of tissue pushing down. This creates bumps, lumps, and depressions along the surface of the skin. Since CoolSculpting® only works to reduce fat cells in the treated area(s), treatment is not regarded as an effective way to resolve cellulite. However, we offer non-surgical treatments that address the root cause of cellulite through our non-surgical facility, M Spa.

How can I reduce swelling after CoolSculpting®?

Everyone heals at a different pace after treatment with CoolSculpting®, but swelling should begin to subside after a few days. Your provider will give you tips on managing swelling after CoolSculpting®, which may include suggestions to wear compression garments, stay hydrated, and live a healthy, active lifestyle. There is no downtime required after CoolSculpting® and patients can return to their normal activities right away.

How long does numbness last after CoolSculpting®?

Not everyone experiences numbness or loss of sensation after CoolSculpting®, but it’s possible. Any side effects, such as numbness or tingling, should begin to dissipate after a few weeks. Don’t hesitate to contact M Spa if you have any concerns regarding the effects or results of CoolSculpting®.

Is CoolSculpting® covered by insurance?

As an aesthetic procedure that is not considered medically necessary, insurance companies don’t normally cover CoolSculpting®. Still, the cost of CoolSculpting® can still be more manageable through patient financing with CareCredit®, Prosper® Healthcare Lending, or ALPHAEON™ Credit. Upon approval, qualified patients can pay for their treatment plan over time with low- to no-interest fees. Our office team can explain the cost of CoolSculpting® further if you have any questions.
